Brainspark appoints wireless technology expert as venture director
London, December 4th, 2000 – Brainspark, the AIM listed incubator focussed on the creation of Internet and technology-related businesses has appointed Kirsten Brann to be venture director.
Her role is to act as the principle point of contact for technology companies in the portfolio ensuring that they make the most use of the resources available both inside and outside of Brainspark. The role also includes working with the partner company management teams to develop and effectively implement their business plans. Brainspark is opening an incubator in Cambridge with a specific remit to create wireless and enabling-technology businesses and Kirsten will play an integral part in its development.
Most recently Kirsten was a wireless sector venture partner for Antfactory, where she established the wireless team. Before this, she was Cluster Consulting’s first London employee where she worked extensively with telecoms companies in Germany, France, the Netherlands and Finland.
Kirsten started life as an engineer, helping to design the BMW Z3 and the Mercedes Benz SUV, before heading back to Duke University’s Business School (North Carolina, USA) and achieving an MS in Engineering.
Commenting on her appointment, Kirsten Brann said: “I am delighted to be joining the Brainspark team. It is a group of exciting and honest individuals who have already proven achievements in the market. Our plan to create a new technology-focussed incubator in Cambridge is a challenging project which I’m particularly excited about.”
Brainspark currently has seventeen investments, four of which have successfully completed follow-on funding rounds.
