Industrial Giant, Linde, Nominates Gasworld to Manage e-Auction Process

Gasworld, the UK based business services company, formed specifically to provide procurement and supply chain solutions to the global Industrial Gases business, has been appointed by European market leader, Linde Gas AG to manage an on-line auction. The multi-million dollar contract negotiation is expected to result in a substantial cost saving for the German industrial giant. 

The managed reverse auction will take place in March. Suppliers to the international gases company will be invited to bid for a major global contract at a pre-set time, on-line. Mr. Gerhard Gehweiler – Linde’s Group Supply Manager – explains, “We expect that this auction will deliver substantial savings. It will also give us greater control over day to day purchasing of a major element of our business expenditure as a part of our contribution to improving the profitability of the company.” 

Gasworld has developed an exclusive set of market propositions for the Industrial Gases industry to address sector specific business inefficiencies. The global industry is highly capital intensive, with approximately $14bn of procurement per year. The complex nature of the supply chain results in a number of inherent inefficiencies, which can be addressed by the implementation of new technologies. 

A number of other global Industrial Gases companies have committed to using Gasworld’s procurement solutions. Further managed reverse auctions are planned to take place later in the Spring.
